Family Involvement - A Key Component of Success

Family support plays a pivotal role in the recovery journey at Chapter House. We recognize that addiction affects the entire family system, and successful recovery requires family engagement, understanding, and alignment with our program structure.

Weekly Communication and Updates

Each week, families receive detailed updates from either the residential case manager or the outpatient counselor. These communications keep families informed about:

20 hours of clinical services per week

Challenges encountered and how they’re being addressed
Recovery stage advancement and what to expect next
Program participation and engagement levels
Behavioral observations and clinical insights

Structured Family Contact Protocol

Our approach to family contact is carefully structured to support each resident’s recovery process:
During the Landing Stage (First 30 Days):
  • Limited family contact to once per week
  • No visitation for the first 30 days
  • Focused communication through staff updates only
This initial structure helps residents become firmly established in their new environment without outside distractions that could interfere with their early recovery stabilization.

After 30 Days:

  • Weekly family visitation every Sunday
  • Individual communication plans based on progress and recovery stage
  • Increased contact flexibility as residents advance through stages

Family Therapy and Support

Chapter House encourages and facilitates family therapy sessions as needed. These sessions are designed to:
  • Address underlying family dynamics that may impact recovery
  • Foster a supportive and understanding home environment
  • Improve communication patterns and boundaries
  • Prepare families for successful reintegration
  • Heal relationships damaged by addiction
Family therapy sessions can be arranged flexibly to accommodate individual family schedules, ensuring this valuable process happens when most beneficial.
