Activities and Volunteer

Empowering recovery through community service and engaging life experiences

Community Engagement and Recreation

At Chapter House, our commitment to holistic recovery extends beyond the confines of traditional therapy. Residents engage actively in a structured schedule of community service and recreational activities, designed not only to foster personal growth but also to rebuild connections with the community.

Volunteerism as a Pathway to Recovery

Each month, residents are given the opportunity to give back to the community, a core component of our recovery philosophy. On the third Saturday of every month, the entire community comes together to volunteer at various local nonprofits. These activities are not just acts of service; they are integral to the recovery process, helping residents find purpose and joy in altruistic actions. Past volunteer locations have included esteemed organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Maggie’s House, and the 24-Hour Club, among others. Activities range from building homes, supporting recovery in others at Maggie’s House, to direct outreach like feeding the homeless, all fostering a sense of responsibility and community involvement.

Dynamic Recreational Opportunities

In addition to volunteer work, Chapter House ensures that weekends are filled with a variety of engaging and enjoyable activities. From the thrill of rodeos and escape rooms to the tranquility of golf courses and state fairs, the program is designed to cater to a wide range of interests, ensuring that every resident finds activities that resonate with them. Regular outings include attending major local sports events with season tickets to the Dallas Stars, local MMA events, and Frisco Roughriders games, enhancing the communal and team-building experiences that are vital to sustainable recovery.

Recreational activities also include adventure outings such as camping trips, visits to amusement and water parks, and participation in car shows and race car events. Each of these activities is thoughtfully chosen to support the recovery journey, promoting not only physical health but also psychological well-being and social skills development.
